Ritual of Mara Explained

With the special Imperial Edition of Elder Scrolls Online you will receive a Pledge of Mara in your mail. You use this to marry someone in game, which gives you a ring with an XP bonus. This XP bonus only works when you are leveling with the person you did the Ritual of Mara with.

In order to do the ritual of Mara you will need to find a Shrine of Mara.

Shrine of Mara Locations

  • Aldmeri Dominion: Vulkhel Guard in Auridon & Elden Root in Grahtwood
  • Daggerfall Covenant: Daggerfall in Glenumbra & Wayrest in Stormhaven
  • Ebonheart Pact: Davon’s Watch in Stonefalls & Mournhold in Deshaan

Once you have both players in front of the Shrine of Mara you want to quick slot the Pledge of Mara and then target the other player with it. It can only be used once and the other player has to accept it as well.

Once the ritual is complete you will have a Ring of Mara in your inventory with your new spouses name on it!

Congratulations, your hitched!

To get the XP bonus, which is a 10% XP bonus, you need to be grouped and wearing the rings. If not, no boost for you!

The rings can make a really nice RP story, but for the XP boost to be really worth it you want to have married someone you will be grouping with often. You want the XP boost as often as possible!

Good luck with your marriage, only way to get out of it… is if one of you dies! Luckily, you can marry more than one person if it turns out your significant other isn’t all that useful!
